Sharing a life of faith and thanksgiving

Community

The Church of the Good Shepherd is more than just a group of people that share a place of worship.  We are an open, welcoming community that loves and supports each other day in and day out. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we truly consider our fellow parishioners as family.  One of the first things that people who visit our parish notice is how welcomed and accepted they immediately feel, and we would love to share this sense of belonging with you!

Below are some ways to get involved at the Good Shepherd

Music

Each week our worship services on Sundays and Wednesdays are enhanced by the musical talents of our singers and musicians.  If you are in any way musically inclined, you are invited to lend your sound and be a part of that worship.  All are welcome to join the choir or bless our worship service with your skills on a musical instrument.  Our choir practices after our Wednesday Evening services and after the 8:00 service on Sunday mornings.

Altar & Flower Guilds, Ushers, Acolytes

These groups serve a vital role each week in our worship.  From the flowers around the Nave, to preparing the elements on the altar, to making sure each person who enters the church feels welcomed, our worship would not be complete without their hard work. Each of these parish servant groups will train new members and most of the work is done in teams.

Housekeeping

Our housekeeping teams ensure our facilities are clean and welcoming for Sunday worship, Christian teaching forums, and fellowship.  Additionally, some special events may require some housekeeping and/or room setup.  Each housekeeping team typically cleans the church once a quarter and helps out during special events when available to do so.

Groundskeeping

The Church of the Good Shepherd has been blessed with a peaceful, beautiful church grounds.  Our gardens are separated into areas and are tended as needed by one or more parish gardeners and a parish lawnmower is provided.  We welcome anyone who enjoys yard work or gardening to lend your talents to our parish and come be a part of our groundskeeping team.  No training required but will be provided if requested.

Coffee Hour Hosts

Each week after our 10:30 Sunday worship service, one or more families provide refreshments for Coffee Hour, our weekly time of fellowship.  Refreshments may be as basic or as fancy as desired by each team, except on special occasions when special refreshments are requested in advance. If you enjoy cooking or hosting meals, please consider lending your talents to help enhance our fellowship.

Vestry

Our Vestry are the lay leaders in our Parish. They work with our priest or rector in handling the business of the Parish. Each year, several members of the Vestry are elected by the Parish to typically serve 3-year terms.  All members are asked to prayerfully consider nomination for this important service.

If you would like to be part of any of these ministries within our Parish, please email us, or contact a member of the Vestry.

Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.
